Hey everyone! Today is Emma's Birthday party! Don't you all wish you could come? It's a 70's themed party and we'll be doing Spin Art (with SU! refills of course!), having a Twister Tournament, a Boogie Down Dance Off and yummy cupcakes !
Well, her birthday couldn't have come at a better time for the Blogger's Challenge schedule because this week is all about Birthdays!
The first photo in my post shows the invitations that Emma and I created together. I used the long retired stamp set Groovy for all the stamped party things, beginning with the invitation.
We used the colors of Yo-Yo Yellow, Green Galore, Pink Passion, Only Orange and Tempting Turquoise for all the cardstock, inks and markers.
The card itself is a panel card with a bookmark insert. The main panel is 4 1/4" square with the two layers cut smaller for matting. I did the wording invitation on my computer on Whisper White cardstock.
The book mark was made with the Two Tags Die and the Big Shot. Emma colored and stamped all the little VW Beetles herself and then she cut them out with Paper Snips! (She knows how much I HATE cutting anything out and now I think she knows why after cutting out 15 of these little bugs!)
But, they turned out so cute, didn't they?
This next photo is of the Birthday card I made her with the same stamp set and color combo. It's a standard size card 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".
I used the retired PigTails rikrak for the ribbon accent, but look at the cool tie-dye effect I was able to get on the greeting:
I dotted re-inkers on a piece of white felt in a Powder Pal tray, re-creating the look of a tie-dyed t-shirt. I inked my stamp, stamped off one time and then stamped again onto Whisper White cardstock. I LOVE how this turned out! It's FAR OUT, man! heeheehee...
I even did it on the inside when I stamped the little beetle again.
This next photo shows the plethora of party favor pins I made with my Big Shot and the Flower Folds Die.
I used felt that I purchased at a local craft store and just layered the colors in different combinations, attaching them together with the Corduroy Buttons in Summer Sun and Pumpkin Pie. Groovy, huh?
I attached stick on pin backs to the brad flaps on the back of each flower so the girls will have it to pin on their coats, sweaters, hats or whatever. Flower pins are HOT right now and these were stinkin' easy to make!
Here is Emma's special pin. Since she is the birthday girl, hers has an extra layer and I let her choose her colors herself.
This photo is of the treat bags each girl will go home with. I didn't make the bags themselves, just the tags on the front.
I just used the Top Note Die and my Big Shot with Whisper White cardstock and stamped on them with the same images as the invitations. Emma wrote the names on them and filled them when she got home from school on Thursday. We bought the cutest little 'hippie' rubber ducks from an online store along with these bags and a wall hanging that shows two hippies with holes where their faces should be so you can stand behind it and have your photo taken.
I think it will be a really fun party tonight - I bought a Best of the 70's cd to play for the dance off and I've been singing "Car Wash" in my head for over 24 hours now. But besides that, I'm looking forward to it! :) At least the cupcake part! Yumm!
Hope you have time to check out all the other Blogger's Challenge players projects today. The link is on my sidebar for you - I know they will have some great Birthday ideas!
Have a Groovy kind of day!
~~Robin
