A CASE of Cute Cherries!

Well, it's Wednesday morning and my laundry room is still in my dining room.........

I'll spare you the depressing details, but long story short, we got the cabinets, ran into a snag, ran out of time last night and they are now sitting in my family room. Yes that means one more room in my home is a disaster area because the original cabinet fell off the wall in our laundry room. And my kitchen table is covered with parts........sigh.
Is this payback for the room we did for Emma coming together so nicely? Sheesh! I hate home improvement projects!

So, I needed a simple project to share with you today. Here's a card we did at my last $2 Cards Night and it uses a stamp set that really makes me smile - Button Buddies:

At convention, I received an adorable swap from my friend Michelle Theriault. She used buttons on her cherries, but since this was a simplified card, I opted for Dazzling Diamonds glitter to add a little sparkle.

This card has a base of Bashful Blue cardstock, a layer of Whisper White and a strip of Real Red Patterns Designer Paper in the Polka Dot design. I adhered the designer paper to the bottom of the Whisper White layer then wrapped a strip of Bashful Blue 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon around the seam to cover it. I used a second, shorter piece to tie a simple knot and it was adhered to the wrap ribbon with a Mini-Glue Dot.

The focal point has a mat of Real Red Cardstock that I cut with the Scallop Squares Duo Die and my Big Shot. The scallops add so much to the focal image, but if you don't have the Big Shot or this die, you can do a square in it's place so you still have the red layer.
The cherries image was inked up with the Real Red and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers and stamped on the Whisper White square.

The greeting comes from the new Petite Pairs stamp set - soon to be one of YOUR favorites! I stamped it in Old Olive Classic Ink right under the cherries.

If I were going to step this card up, I'd add Real Red buttons to my cherries, like Michelle did. I'd also pop up the red scalloped mat on Stampin' Dimensionals, and use Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon with a bow instead of a knot. These additions would also bump up your postage because of the thickness, but it's so worth it for someone really special!

Here's pictures and info on some of the products I've used today:

  1. Hey Robin!
Sat next to your hubby and you at convention in Bonnie's class.. just wanted to let you know that I am relating to you with the house remodel. We are still in progress with our upstairs bath remodel, which is now leaking in my stamp room.. so besides our bath being out of commission my stamp room has a huge hole in the ceiling( but one good thing came out of it, got my hubby to put in another outlet along a wall that needed one! Yea me!)Hopefully soon everything will be put back together!!
