How's the weather where you are? You can't turn on the news on any channel here without hearing about Hurricane Irene. Where I live, there are tropical storm warnings, which most likely means nothing more than a nasty rain storm. But I love how the media coverage caused all the grocery shelves to be wiped out yesterday and super long lines at every gas station.
Well, life is going on as normal with us today even if we don't have a loaf of bread because it was all sold out! I'm excited to have a houseful of stampers coming over this morning to make Christmas Cards and this evening, my family is going to the movies to see "The Help". I read the book in 24 hours on vacation and all I can say is WOW! It's one of the best stories I've read in a long time and the book was so well written, I loved the author's voice. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.
Anyway, here's another one of the cards we'll be making in class this morning - super clean and simple:
The card base is Whisper White cardstock which I ran through the Big Shot with the Northern Flurries Embossing Folder. The greeting is stamped in Real Red Classic Ink on the lower right corner.
The focal point is a mat of Garden Green cardstock layered with a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I inked up the Christmas Tree stamp with my Garden Green and Real Red markers then stamped it on the cardstock. A Basic Rhinestone jewel was added for the tree topper to add a little bling!
Those layers were adhered together and I tied a 9" piece of 1/8" Real Red Taffeta around the bottom section. Popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals, it finished off this clean and simple card perfectly!
You could easily create many multiples of this card in just a few short hours. I think I'd even like it using all Whisper White cardstock layers. That would really bring out the colorful tree and ribbon.
So, even if you can't be with us at class today, here's a few of the supplies I used to create this card. You can shop in my Online Stampin' Store from the comfort of your home, 24/7.
#119251 - Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon $5.95 (10 yards)
Thanks for stopping by today - stay safe and dry if you are in the storm's path, you'll be in our thoughts and prayers!
